Ed is a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, and has an MBA from University of Houston. He also holds a law degree from University of Texas, and attended Stanford University and New Mexico Military Institute. Ed served as an officer in the U.S. Army between 1961 and 1967.

After a distinguished career developing, owning, and managing major hotels in the United States, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Belize, Ed established the RE/MAX franchise in Guatemala City where he specialized in hotel brokerage in Mexico and Central America. He holds a Texas Salesperson license and is completely bilingual.

Ed currently resides near Austin, and practices commercial real estate and hotel brokerage in Texas and New Mexico, as well as in Mexico and Central America. He is a skilled and highly trained negotiator on behalf of his clients having successfully completed numerous advanced courses in international arbitration and mediation and the Harvard Law School P.L.I. Basic and Advanced Negotiation Workshops. Ed belongs to Westin Alumni Association (WAA).

Ed’s family has been involved in the hotel industry for three generations. His grandparents were originally from Cooke County, Texas. His adult children and grandchildren are all now residing in Texas. The four adult children have undergraduate degrees from University of Houston. Three are graduates of the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and have made the hospitality industry their careers.

Ed has been involved with many civic and charitable organizations, including Children's Miracle Network, Komen for the Cure, and a member of Rotary since 1966. He was one of the original donors to Houston Rotary House International and was active in the founding of Heartbeat International. He is a member of the Cedar Park Rotary Club, Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Ed is a member of the worldwide network of Cayuga Hospitality Advisors and the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association.
